Our Yr 12 students have already completed a third of their studies
Term 1 was completed on Wednesday 14 April. Our classes went longer than those in other schools in Adelaide to accommodate for the time we took from lessons to enable our offshore students to celebrate the Lunar New Year earlier this term. We are very conscious of the need for our students to receive the quality and quantity of tuition they need to succeed and so we will also extend term 2 by three days. This will more than accommodate for the days lost.
During this term we were delighted to accept a new student enrolment into our Year 12 group which brings our total number in the class to a record number this year.
Reports to parents
All students, their parents and their agents will receive a copy of the term 1 report. Our teachers spend a lot of time and care to ensure that these reports are an accurate record of each student’s academic and social growth. I urge parents and agents to work with us to support those areas of improvement for each student that have been highlighted. All of us can improve and our students are no exception.
As part of the report process, we have held one on one student meetings for our Year 12 students with Ms Phillips, our Director of Curriculum and Administration, and me. In these interviews we urged those students who may need some additional support to seek it from tutors. Not all tutors are effective as others and so we have organized tutors in Adelaide who work with us, and we know to be very good. Please contact me or Ms Phillips if you need any further details about this tutoring service.
SACE International
I am currently completing an application for AIS to be recognized to teach the SACE International (SACEi) program. If we can do this it will provide us with the flexibility to make significant structural changes to the courses and programs we offer which will further assist our students to successfully gain their SACE. I will keep you informed of events as they occur.
Daylight saving has finished.
Just a reminder that Daylight Saving has finished in Adelaide which means we are now only 1.5 hours ahead of China and all countries on Chinese mainland time and 2.5 hours in front of Vietnam and Indonesia.
