English for Academic Purpose - Year 11
CRICOS Course Code: 083251E
Course Overview
AIS welcomes enrolments to our Year 11 EAP program preparing students for their senior studies.
This curriculum is organised by subject enabling all students to access the language needed to thrive in SACE and Cambridge subjects.
Senior school teachers work with TESOL specialists designing subjects for intensive English. These EAP courses specifically relate to SACE subjects. Through this course, students are prepared for Year 11 and Year 12 with opportunities to develop language across all modes of communication, gain subject content knowledge, and critical thinking skills. The close alignment of this course with SACE and Cambridge subjects facilitates a smooth transition into senior school.
Importantly, students’ language learning is carefully tracked ensuring English proficiency is to a standard allowing a student to confidently transition into mainstream classes. It is critical for the student’s future academic success and their positive social and cultural experiences that language is proficient.
Successful completion of the course provides the student with up to 40 credits towards their SACE Stage 1. The course offers each student the opportunity to complete the subject, Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) which is compulsory.
All teachers in Year 11 EAP are registered subject specific specialists lead by highly skilled professionals experienced in teaching Year 12 SACE.
