At Adelaide International School, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. With years of experience supporting learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, we understand the unique challenges international students may face. That’s why we take a personalised approach – ensuring every student feels safe, valued, and connected from the moment they arrive.

Our commitment extends to both international domestic students, creating a supportive environment where every learner can thrive.

A Holistic Approach to Wellbeing

AIS promotes wellbeing through a holistic framework that nurtures five key dimensions of student development.

Emotional Wellbeing

Every student is supported by a dedicated Wellbeing Mentor, who meets with them daily to check in, offer guidance, and assist with any personal or academic concerns. These consistent connections build trust and ensure students always have someone to turn to throughout their journey at AIS.

Physical Wellbeing

We encourage students to stay active and maintain healthy routines. Alongside physical education classes, students can join afterschool badminton sessions and participate in weekend outdoor activities, including hiking and team-based games—helping them stay energised and balanced.

Social Wellbeing

A strong sense of belonging is essential to student success. AIS offers a variety of student-led clubs and after-school activities that create meaningful opportunities to connect and build friendships. Excursions and retreat days focused on teamwork and personal growth further strengthen these connections

Spiritual Wellbeing

Our values—integrity, resilience, gratitude, aspiration, and inclusivity—are embedded into daily school life. Students are encouraged to practice honesty, overcome challenges, express appreciation, and set meaningful goals. Through a culture that celebrates diversity and promotes global citizenship, students develop a strong sense of purpose by engaging in service and community initiatives

Mental Wellbeing

AIS supports mental wellbeing through high-quality teaching and personalised academic support. Our use of the STEER Tracking Tool allows us to monitor students’ emotional and cognitive development, enabling timely and tailored interventions. This helps students build resilience, confidence, and positive thinking habits.

A Strong Support Network

We work closely with homestay families, recognising their vital role in providing a stable and caring home environment. Through ongoing communication, we ensure students receive consistent support both at school and at home—creating a seamless network of care.
