SACE Vocational Major

Course Overview

AIS provides an opportunity for students to specialise in areas of learning to lead to training and employment. These courses are provided with us on our site and involve vocational learning with language support and SACE credit.

Students may elect to study:

  1. Certificate II & III courses with EAP Language support
  2. Certificate II & III with SACE Subjects

On our site, students move seamlessly between their subject and vocational course learning while continuing the care for social, emotional, and physical development.

The vocational courses are a range of certificates from the following areas:

  • Health and Community Services
  • Information Technology
  • Business
  • Commercial Cookery

Adelaide International School’s SACE Vocational Major equips you with essential knowledge and skills to thrive in various rewarding and rapidly growing industries.
AIS collaborates with AIBT trainers to deliver this comprehensive program.
Each course consists of a range of modules that contribute to your vocational education and training (VET) qualification and align with South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) standards. Students gain SACE credit and Australian quality framework qualifications when studying a VET Major.Students exit the VET major with one of the following outcomes:

  • A SACE certificate & a Certificate III
  • SACE Year 11 Transcript & a Certificate III

After the VET Major, students may progress their education into certificate IV and Diploma pathways towards university or enter the workforce as qualified personnel.

The VET Major is a great option for students loving to create, work more practically, and lead in vocational responsibilities.

Entry Requirements

  • Be a minimum of 16 years of age at the time of course commencement
  • For Year 11 Entry – Completed Australian Year 10 or Equivalent
  • For Year 12 Entry – Completed Australian Year 11 or Equivalent

Pathways After Successful Completion:

Upon completion, you can seamlessly transition into an entry-level position or choose to advance your education further through VET or university, opening doors to diverse and specialised career opportunities.

  • University (through alternative entry programs)
  • Employment

YEAR 11 SUBJECTS

3 SACE Core units – Compulsory

  • English as an Additional Language (EAL) – 20 Credits
  • Essential Mathematics – 10 Credits (minimum)
  • Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) – 10 Credits

Certificate II or III – 70 Credits

YEAR 12 SUBJECTS

  • Activating Identities and Futures – 10 Credits – Compulsory
  • English as an Additional Language (EAL) – Stage 2 – 20 Credits
  • Elected SACE Subject – Full Year – 20 Credits (Optional)

Certificate III or IV – 70 Credits
