In the next few weeks the Year 12 students from AIS are about to complete their SACE Stage 2 studies. To prepare them for their future university life they have toured a number of local universities. Most recently they visited Adelaide University which is ranked 106 in QS world University Rankings. Located in the centre of Adelaide, Adelaide University is one of the most famous and historic universities in Australia and is a member of the group of eight (GO8). This indicates that is one of the eight most prestigious universities in the country.
The university admissions officer showed the students around the various faculties. They also visited the study and communal areas, such as Hub Central and the Student Service Central. Students visited the Barr Smith Library which contains many electronic and paper resources and is located next to the Hub.
In the School of Engineering, William Godfrey, President of the Computer Science Society, discussed the work he did during his Computer Science studies and his general learning experiences in the School of Engineering.
During the visit, the students also met the lecturer of Chemical Engineering, who introduced this course to the students and encouraged them to apply for this faculty. Finally, students visited the ThincLab at the University of Adelaide Business School, where students are able to analyse Stock Market price movements in real time and generally learn about the process of trading.
