It was with great pleasure that we celebrated the conclusion of the Year 12 program at a dinner on Sunday 8 November at the beautiful InterContinental Hotel in the center of Adelaide.
The students were joined by their teachers, AIS Support Staff, members of the Wellbeing Team and AEG dignitaries, and enjoyed a tasty meal and had fun. It was great to see the students so relaxed. Their studies were over, exams finished, and bags packed for home and so they certainly had many reasons to be feeling happy.
By far the highlight of the night was the speeches delivered by the students. It was a source of great joy to listen to the confident way these speeches were delivered, and each highlighted the growth that all students have made throughout the year.
At the dinner, each student was presented with an AIS Completion Certificate that recognized that all had worked hard and completed all the work that was requested of them. Four special presentations were made:
• LIU Shaya Camilla – Dux School Assessment
• REN Shiying Kaelyn – Effective Student
• DAI Jiahe Kyle – Community Award
• LU Xinming Gloria – Greatest Progress
I take this opportunity to congratulate Kaelyn and Kyle on the work that they did as our inaugural school captains and wish them and all the Year 12 students every joy and success in the future.
We will miss our first Year 12 cohort. We have all learned much through this year and I look forward with confidence to our program expanding and being even better in the future. Each of 2020 Year 12 students has made their mark and has benefited enormously from their experience of studying SACE Stage 2 at Adelaide International School. They have been incredibly resilient and managed all that this crazy year has thrown at them. They will forever remain in our hearts and be remembered by us all with great fondness. We hope to see them again in the future and look forward to hearing of their future successes.
The group left Australia on Wednesday 11 November and safely arrived home on the same day. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions the students then faced two weeks in quarantine in Guangzhou. They will be released from quarantine on 25 November and I am sure are greatly looking forward to seeing their families again. One thing is for certain their parents can be very proud of their children. They have brought great honor to themselves and their families during their stay in Adelaide. I congratulate them all on a job extremely well done!
